2019 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report

We’re committed to closely monitoring our annual Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to help us understand and mitigate our environmental impact. We continuously evaluate these emissions and look for opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint.

Annual GHG Emissions by Scope

Above: Scope 1 calculations include emissions from our manufacturing facilities and truck fleet.

Our GHG intensity per sellable product decreased by approximately 10% between 2017 and 2019. This decrease can be attributed to improvements in process efficiencies and changes in product portfolio distribution.

Indexed GHG Intensity

How we reduce GHG emissions

  • Alternative energy consumption is represented in our use of recovered landfill gas at our Leola, PA, facility. It’s our goal to continually increase use of renewable energy in our manufacturing operations wherever possible.
  • We use UV-cured and water-based inks to print our cups, avoiding emissions typically associated with solvent-based printing inks.
  • We reuse heat from our cup-making process to warm many of our facilities.
  • All our US manufacturing facilities are governed by environmental permits and regulations which require the monitoring of emissions to ensure levels are below those allowed in the permits and/or regulations.

Our accomplishments

  • We’ve decreased GHG intensity per sellable product by approximately 10% between 2017 and 2019.
  • Through re-lamping efforts at several of our facilities, we’ve reduced emissions by approximately 9,612 metric tons of CO2e as of 2019.
